Ghana youth midfielder Majeed Ashimeru recuperated from injury to score for St Gallen in their 3-2 defeat to Young Boys in the Swiss Super League on Sunday.
The former WAFA star had to pass a late fitness test ahead of the game after picking an injury in the side’s 3-1 friendly defeat against German Bundesliga II outfit Heidenheim last weekend.
The Ghanaian international’s return furthered the morale of his teammates as they picked the lead on 32nd minute courtesy Axel Bakayoko’s strike.
French forward Guillaume Hoarau drew the home side level in the 43rd minute.
St Gallen restored their lead in the 65th minute through Ashimeru who responded swiftly to pleat home Yannis Tafer’s low back pass.
The Swiss champions took control of the match as Hoarau again pulled parity for them via the spot in the 81st minute before sealing an astonishing comeback with a fantastic strike on stoppage time.
Ashimeru , had to be replaced by compatriot Musah Nuhu on the 77th minute.
Majeed Ashirmeru’s imperious form as seen him establish himself as a key member of St Gallen FC since joining on loan in the summer from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg.
He has so far netted 3 goals and provided 6 brilliant assists in 24 league games for the Swiss side in the ongoing campaign.
