Manager for Accra Hearts of Oak, Edward Nii Odoom has revealed that the technical team is working very hard in training to fix the loopholes in team’s defence which cost them a point in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) opener against AshantiGold SC on Tuesday.
The Rainbow Boys played their first game of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium last Tuesday evening but failed to snatch all three points as they drew 2-2 with the visitors who came back from behind twice to make sure the spoils were shared.
Supporters and well-wishers of the club complained bitterly about the team’s poor defensive display against the Miners which has prompted the technical handlers to take a second look at the team’s rate of losing concentration at vital stages of the match.
The former Tema Youth coach has promised to rectify the defensive lapses of the team going forward to ensure a successful campaign in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League to make the fans of the club happy and proud.
“We had an excellent preseason campaign and, we worked on so many areas of our game”, he later told Hearts Media.
The gaffer said, “this will be addressed at training this week and was positive that the system will bounce back to normalcy going into the upcoming games.
“It was a very painful way to concede with virtually the last kick of the game and, we will work on this to correct the situation”, Coach Odoom added.
Hearts will play their next GPL game – a Matchday Three encounter away to Inter Allies in a capital derby to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.
