Experienced football administrator Wilfred Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’ has expressed doubts about the ability of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, questioning his technical competence to lead the national team.
Addo was reappointed in March 2024 to replace Chris Hughton after Ghana’s disappointing performance at the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast. However, despite failing to secure qualification for AFCON 2025, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has chosen to retain him, a decision that has sparked debate among football fans.
Ghana struggled in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, failing to win a single match—drawing three and losing three. As a result, the four-time African champions will miss the tournament for the first time in over 20 years.
Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’ Questions Otto Addo’s Credentials
Speaking to Sporty FM, Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’ made it clear that he lacks confidence in Otto Addo’s ability to manage the team effectively.
When asked if he believes in Otto Addo’s coaching abilities, he firmly responded:
“Not at all. Technically, he is inexperienced.”
He also criticized the decision to appoint Addo while pointing out the dismissal of former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah.
“We threw Kwasi Appiah out of the Black Stars on the count that he wasn’t good. If Kwasi Appiah wasn’t good and he has been able to teach Otto Addo a soccer lesson, then was it sensible taking such a decision?” he questioned.
