Asante Kotoko legend Opoku Nti has called on the Porcupine Warriors to sharpen their finishing if they hope to contend for the Ghana Premier League title this season.
His comments come after Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by league debutants Young Apostles at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Young Apostles took the lead in the 51st minute through Daniel Lomotey, but Kotoko salvaged a point with a late equalizer from Emmanuel Antwi in the 79th minute. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Kotoko were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, forcing them to settle for a draw.
Opoku Nti, who was present at the match, voiced his concerns over the team’s inability to convert chances. “Kotoko had the upper hand over Young Apostles. You can’t squander five clear chances and expect to win the game. Going forward, the coach needs to work on finishing and the condition of the players,” he said after the game.
The draw means Kotoko missed the chance to secure back-to-back wins in the league, as they look to build momentum after a challenging previous season.
The Porcupines will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Berekum Chelsea, where they will hope to bounce back and improve their standing in the league.
