Kofi Manu, a veteran football administrator, has raised concerns about the eligibility of Kurt E.S Okraku, the current President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to contest the next GFA Presidential elections.
Manu’s remarks come in light of a petition that has been reportedly sent to twenty-four institutions, including FIFA, containing allegations against Okraku.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Fox FM, Manu criticized Okraku’s leadership and expressed doubts about his potential candidacy for the upcoming elections.
Manu referenced the incidents that took place during the Congress in Kumasi and voiced his belief that if Okraku’s actions were motivated by seeking re-election, he might not be allowed to run in the next GFA Presidential elections.
“Look at how he is ruining Ghana football. Look at what happened at the Congress in Kumasi. Let me assure you that if Kurt is doing all these things because of he wants to seek re-election then let him know that he might not be part of of the candidates for the next GFA presidential elections,” Kofi Manu said.
Kofi Manu highlighted alleged ethical breaches, such as Okraku’s alleged inconsistent name, the appointment of his sister at Prampram, and the appointment of the general manager of Dreams FC as the Team Manager of the Black Stars, which he claimed violated FIFA’s Code of Ethics regarding the appointment of relatives. Manu confidently stated that Okraku’s days as GFA President were numbered.
“We have laws in Ghana. I have seen the petition against the GFA president and I can tell you that something massive is going to happen. He does not have a consistent name , his sister is the at Prampram , Dreams FC general manager is made Team Manager of the Black Stars and the FIFA Code of Ethics is clear , that do not appoint your relatives. These are ethical breaches and you think he will survive?. His days are clearly numbered,” the veteran football administrator stated.
The allegations against Okraku and the subsequent response indicate a tense atmosphere surrounding his leadership and potential re-election bid for the GFA Presidency. The situation awaits further developments and clarification.
