Bechem United Chief Executive Officer, Kingsley Osei Bonsu popularly known as Lord Zico says his outfit have chosen the Baba Yara sports stadium [Kumasi] to honor their CAF Confederations Cup matches should the Bechem Park fail to meet CAF’s standard.
According to Zico though the hunters are doing the possible best to give their edifice a new face to enable them play all home matches in Bechem, the Baba Yara sports stadium remains their second choice venue considering its proximity.
Speaking on Kumasi based Abusua FM, he disclosed that CAF is yet to officially inspect the venue for the continental competition contrary to media reports that the federation in charge of African Football have described the venue to be a substandard venue which can’t host inter continental clubs competition.
”We have chosen the Baba Yara sports stadium as our second option for all home games should CAF disapprove the Bechem Park because it is the only standard venue which is very close to us”
He added” The truth of the matter is that CAF officially haven’t inspected the venue rather it is Mr. Asabere who did that on behalf of the GFA before the 2016/2016 Ghana Premier League starts. Maybe because he does certain works for them that is why people came out with that report.”
The 2016 FA Cup champions will in soon embark on a pre- season tour in Turkey to continue preparations for the upcoming season.
They will travel to Algeria in February to face MC Alger for their first leg fixture of the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary stage encounter.
