Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil has expressed his apologies to the fans of Ghana after the national team’s premature departure from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The hopes of the West African powerhouse advancing to the knockout stages were dashed after a 2-2 draw with Mozambique, and the elimination was confirmed as Cameroon secured a comeback win against Gambia.
This marks the Black Stars’ consecutive group stage exit from the African Cup of Nations, adding to the disappointment of the fans. Despite the team’s early exit, Paintsil showcased an exceptional performance, featuring in all three group games.
In a social media post, the KRC Genk forward conveyed his sincere apologies to the people of Ghana, acknowledging the team’s failure to meet expectations.
“Sincere apologies to the good people of Ghana. We are truly sorry for not meeting your expectations.Important lessons to take away from this unforgettable experience.💔”
“Thank you for coming through with your support in our low moments.”
The skill winger will fly to join his Genk teammates to continue the season after Ghana’s exit.
