Head Coach of the Black Meteors (U-23) Ibrahim Tanko has augmented his side with the inclusion of some few Ghanaian players plying their trade in Europe for the final qualifying game of the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Championship against Algeria.

The Black Meteors are scheduled to battle with Algeria this month in a double header for a ticket at the U-23 Cup of Nations to be played in Morocco in June this year.

Last month, Ibrabim Tanko summoned a squad of 24 players to report to camp at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram to commence preparations for the games.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has now augmented the team with the inclusion of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting Lisbon, Ernest Nuamah of Nordsjælland, Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj and Ibrabim Zubairu of Serbian-based side FK Jedinstvo Ub.

English-born of Ghanaian descent Kwame Poku who plies his trade at Peterborough United has also earned a call-up to partake in the last round of the qualifiers against Algeria.

They are expected to report to camp in Prampram latest by tomorrow as the team intensify preparations for the crucial games against Algeria.

Ghana will first play Algeria in Annaba on Friday, March 24, before hosting them in the second league on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi.

The winner of the two-legged affair will qualify for the U-23 Championship in Morocco which will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris.

Ghana missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing 4th at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt – 2019. The Black Meteors are yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece.
