The Ghanaian prospect after helping AZ Alkmaar win the UEFA Youth League, was again on target for Jong AZ Alkmaar in their League match victory against MVV Maastricht on Friday night.

The 17-year old scored after 93+1 to wrap up what was a thrilling 3-1 victory for AZ Alkmaar.

The home side had a slight ascendancy in what was an entertaining first half. In the fifth minute, MVV had its first serious chance, when a header from Koen Kostons ended up in the hands of Daniël Deel. On the other side, Barasi was dangerous with a long-range shot.

After more than fifteen minutes, Lewis Schouten had the opening goal on his shoe. Jong AZ found space and got the midfielder on the ball in the penalty area. His strike was turned over by Romain Matthys. After this, MVV took matters into their own hands with chances for Jarne Steuckers and Ruben van Bommel, but Deen was at his post.

After the break, it was the Alkmaarders who took over the initiative. Fedde de Jong was close with a long-range shot (right next to it) and an effort from Ernest Poku hit the crossbar.

In the 67th minute, Jong AZ took the lead. Right-back Jurre van Aken got on the ball on the flank and gave a nice pass to Iman Griffith. The striker played Matthys over, but then saw his shot taken off the line by Rein van Helden. The MVV defender received a red card and Jong AZ a penalty kick. Barasi then pressed cold-bloodedly: 0-1.

After the opening goal, the spaces became larger and Jong AZ got to play football more easily. That quickly led to opportunities. Barasi was close to his second with a shot that swept over the crossbar and a Lewis Schouten effort went wide. Despite the overtime and field dominance, it was MVV who scored in the 82nd minute. Dailon Livramento made it 1-1.

That score didn’t stay on the scoreboard for long, as a minute later Jong AZ netted again. A cross from Van Aken came at the second post, where Stam was completely free. The defender scored with a clever volley: 1-2.

During the celebration of Jong AZ’s second goal, objects were thrown onto the pitch from the crowd, temporarily interrupting the game. After the resumption, MVV failed to create any chances and Jong AZ kept the door locked. In injury time, Poku secured the decision by making it 1-3.
