Asante Kotoko’s owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has directed coach Prosper Narteh Ogum to take a firm stance against undisciplined players as the new season approaches.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged Ogum, the former WAFA coach, to establish a culture of discipline within the team. He emphasized that any player displaying serious misconduct should be promptly removed from the squad.

The revered leader expressed his sentiments during a meeting with the team at his palace at Manhyia.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also stressed that no exceptions should be made for indiscipline, regardless of the individual involved, even if management attempts to intervene.

“Undisciplined players must be sacked no matter their excellence on the field. If you are a good player and disciplined, it inures to your own benefit,” he said.

His Majesty urged the players to be selfless and play heartily for the Club as they begin their pre-season activities and subsequently in the upcoming season.

“Play heartily for the Club for your own good. Do not focus on money. If money is your reason for being in the Club, leave…Demonstrate your allegiance to the club despite.”

Otumfuo also assured the players that all their needs will be addressed.

“Efforts are underway to redevelop your training ground but they must understand that all their problems can’t be solved overnight. They will be done gradually until all is solved,” he said while assuring that the development of a more convenient loo is underway.

Furthermore, the King counselled the players to use the right communication channel to relay their challenges.

“Consult the team Manager for all your challenges and he will communicate to the management. If the challenge is beyond them, it must come right away to me.”

Asante Kotoko, who secured a fourth-place finish in the previous season’s GPL campaign, aims to elevate their performance in the upcoming season under the leadership of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, following his return to the position.

The team’s preseason activities are set to commence on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Beposo in the Ashanti Region.

Their new season will kick off in September at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where they will host newly promoted side Hearts of Lions.
