Dr. Tony Aubynn, the Board Chairman of Medeama SC, has disclosed that numerous clubs are vying for the services of their standout forward, Jonathan Sowah.
The striker’s stellar performances for the Yellow and Mauves have captured the attention of clubs across Africa and Europe, sparking interest and speculation regarding his potential transfer.
Initial reports suggested that football powerhouses Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns were keen on acquiring the talented striker. However, Dr. Aubynn, a former member of the Ghana FA Executive Council, clarified that, as of now, Medeama SC has no intentions of transferring Sowah. He emphasized that the player currently serves as a crucial asset to the team, and there is no predetermined price tag for his potential sale.
In an interview with OnTime Sport, Dr. Aubynn stated, “Now, we do not want the player transferred to any club, but perhaps in the future, we will think about it.” He highlighted Sowah’s integral role in the team’s success, emphasizing that negotiations with Al Ahly or any other club are not in progress. Dr. Aubynn further revealed that interest in the player extends beyond African giants, with clubs from Egypt and Europe also expressing interest.
Despite the speculations surrounding his future, Jonathan Sowah continues to contribute significantly to Medeama’s achievements.
The Black Stars forward played a pivotal role in securing Medeama’s historic Ghana Premier League title and has already showcased his skills on the continental stage, making an impact in the CAF Champions League.
