Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has earned widespread praise after reports revealed he shared a significant portion of his national team bonus with his club teammates.
According to Fakye TV, Asare received GH¢170,000 for his involvement in Ghana’s recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, having featured in back-to-back clean-sheet performances against Chad and Madagascar. In a remarkable gesture of generosity, the 32-year-old is said to have shared nearly half of that amount with his Hearts of Oak teammates — including players from the club’s women’s team.
Asare’s selfless act has drawn admiration across the football community, with many praising his humility and team spirit.
Despite his rise to become Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper, Asare’s situation at club level has raised eyebrows. He has been left out of Hearts of Oak’s last two matches, sparking speculation about his role under head coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
Asare’s future with the Phobians remains uncertain, but his actions off the pitch have only strengthened his reputation as a leader and unifying figure within the club.
