Highly-rated defender Caleb Yirenkyi has been handed his first senior national team call-up as part of Ghana’s squad for the Unity Cup 2025 in London. The young star, who plays for FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Superliga, is one of the exciting new additions to Coach Otto Addo’s 23-man team.
Yirenkyi has enjoyed a standout season in Denmark, impressing with his composure, ball control, and defensive awareness. His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, and he now has the chance to represent Ghana at the senior level for the first time.
The Unity Cup, set to feature Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, offers a platform for the 20-year-old to showcase his talent on the international stage. Ghana will open their campaign against Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28 at the GTech Community Stadium in West London. The winner of that match will advance to the final on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Yirenkyi’s inclusion reflects Otto Addo’s focus on blending youth with experience as the Black Stars prepare for future competitions. His call-up will be seen as a proud moment not just for the player, but also for his club and fans who have followed his rise.
