The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the calendar for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with the new campaign scheduled to begin from September 4–7, 2026 and conclude on May 28–31, 2027.
The approved schedule is part of the GFA’s efforts to align Ghana’s domestic football calendar with the FIFA calendar for Member Associations, while improving planning, competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Following the GFA Congress on August 20, 2026, clubs will have adequate time to complete their pre-season preparations before the league begins. Like the previous season, most Premier League matches will be played during weekends, with midweek fixtures reserved mainly for outstanding games.
Defending champions Medeama SC will headline the campaign as they begin their quest to retain the Ghana Premier League title, while clubs across the country prepare for another competitive season.
The 2026/27 season will also feature three newly promoted sides — Debibi United, FC AshantiGold 04 and Port City FC — who earned promotion from the Division One League and will compete among Ghana’s top-flight clubs for the first time.
The GFA says it remains committed to delivering a well-organised and exciting season for clubs, players, officials, partners and supporters as Ghana’s top-flight football continues to grow.
