Asante Kotoko have taken a major step towards strengthening the club’s structure after completing the acquisition of an Ashanti Region Women’s Division One club to serve as their official women’s team.
The Porcupine Warriors’ Board of Directors has purchased Nana Afia Kobi Ampem Ladies as part of efforts to comply with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing regulations, which require clubs participating in the Ghana Premier League to operate a women’s team.
The acquired side is expected to be rebranded as Asante Kotoko Ladies, with the club set to officially unveil the team’s new identity in the coming weeks.
Former Asante Kotoko management member Mrs. Evelyn Nsia Asare has been appointed to oversee the women’s team as the club prepares for a new era in women’s football.
The acquisition marks another significant milestone for the Ghana Premier League giants as they continue to align with CAF’s club licensing standards while expanding the Asante Kotoko brand into the women’s game.
