REVEALED: GFA STRONGLY rejected proposal to make Derek Boateng Black Stars’ assistant coach over recent harsh criticisms

In an unexpected development, Sportsworldghana.com’s sources have disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decisively dismissed Otto Addo’s proposal to name Derek Boateng as the assistant coach for the Black Stars.

Boateng, a former midfielder for the Black Stars, was purportedly under consideration for the role due to his extensive experience and profound understanding of the game.

According to reliable sources, Otto Addo advocated for Boateng to join his technical staff. However, the former Fulham and Getafe midfielder has yet to comment on these assertions.

Despite Boateng’s commendable credentials and potential contributions to the team’s success, the GFA opted to explore other options for the assistant coaching position.

Ultimately, the GFA appointed former Black Stars defender John Paintsil to the role. It is noteworthy that Boateng has previously criticized the current GFA administration led by Kurt Okraku for their handling of Ghanaian football affairs.

Speculation suggests that Boateng’s past criticisms against the GFA may have influenced the decision to reject his potential appointment.

Boateng also openly campaigned for George Afriyie during the 2019 GFA presidential elections, where his candidate was beaten by Kurt Okraku, current head of the Ghana Football Association.

The former Fulham FC midfielder currently is the chief scout of highly respected Right to Dreams Football Academy.

In the midst of these developments, Ghana is gearing up to face Nigeria and Uganda in the upcoming FIFA international friendlies scheduled for later this month.
