Former GHALCA chairman, Alhaji Raji, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ chances of securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite recent setbacks.
Ghana’s hopes of making it to the global tournament have been boosted by back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, which placed the team second in Group I with nine points. However, their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades has cast a shadow over their recent achievements.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Alhaji Raji called for unity among all stakeholders to ensure the team achieves its goal. He stressed the importance of leadership and collaboration in overcoming challenges.
“Let’s all come together and rally behind the Black Stars despite whatever has happened in the past,” he urged. “We have World Cup qualifiers to play, and we will only be able to qualify when we come together, and it must start from Kurt Okraku.”
He further emphasized the critical role of leadership in the qualification campaign.
“Qualifying for the World Cup is a big task, but it is a doable task. Kurt Okraku must initiate the process to bring everyone together for that cause of qualifying for the World Cup,” he added.
The Black Stars will next face Chad and Madagascar in their Matchday 5 and 6 fixtures as they continue their push for a spot at the prestigious tournament.
