Asante Kotoko’s coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, expressed his frustration after their loss to Berekum Chelsea, attributing it to missed scoring opportunities.
During Matchday 30, the Porcupine Warriors fell 2-1 to Chelsea at the Golden City Park. The match saw Kotoko initially take the lead through a goal by Steven Mukwala. However, Stephen Amankona’s equalizer for Chelsea brought the first half to a close at 1-1.
Despite Kotoko’s efforts to regain control, Samuel Boadu’s team secured a late win with Mezack Afriyie’s decisive goal in the second half. Reflecting on the game, Ogum voiced his disappointment over his team’s inability to convert their chances. “We deserved the win. Our performance was superior, and we squandered some promising opportunities,” he lamented.
Ogum also hinted at external pressures affecting the game, saying, “I won’t name names. It’s about intimidation, plain and simple.” This comment suggests that he felt there were other factors at play beyond the team’s control.
The defeat has left the Porcupine Warriors in 11th place in the league standings with 40 points. Looking ahead, Asante Kotoko aims to rebound strongly as they prepare to face their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, in the upcoming Matchday 31 showdown at the Baba Yara Stadium next weekend.
