Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum believes his team did not deserve their 2-1 defeat to Berekum Chelsea.
During the Matchday 30 fixture on Saturday, the Porcupine Warriors initially took the lead with a goal from Steven Mukwala. However, the home side equalized through Stephen Amankona, bringing the first half to a close at 1-1.
In the second half, Samuel Boadu’s team secured a late victory with Mezack Afriyie scoring the decisive goal. This last-minute goal sealed Kotoko’s fate, despite their strong performance throughout the match.
Following the game, Ogum expressed his frustration over the missed opportunities that could have changed the outcome. “We deserved to win. We played better and had some decent chances, but we couldn’t capitalize on them,” he said.
Ogum also hinted at external pressures affecting the game. “I don’t want to mention that person’s name. Intimidation, that is it,” he added, suggesting that there were other factors at play beyond the team’s performance.
Asante Kotoko now aims to bounce back in their next match against rivals Hearts of Oak in the Matchday 31 game at the Baba Yara Stadium next weekend. The team hopes to regain their form and secure a crucial victory.
