Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC’s communications director, David Obeng Nyarko has revealed that the club will not sack head coach, Mariano Barreto if he fails to win the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
According to him, the gaffer will still be at post even when he fails to lift the league trophy at the end of the season.
Obeng Nyarko also added that, the club has a long term project they are working on and are ready to work with the former Black Stars coach from Portugal.
“We have a project which we are working on, of course winning the league is kotoko’s aim and we are determined and working to achieve it”, he told Kumasi FM.
“But that’s not the end of our journey with the coach.”
Barreto is a top coach, top coaches are hired to win leagues or titles and he (Barreto) keeps mentioning that he want the league title, same as the team as a whole but we’re saying he the gaffer will not be sacked.
He concluded that the club has plans to maintain the Portuguese gaffer no matter how the season goes for the Porcupine Warriors.
“We have a long project that we are working on with him to achieve it”, He added.
Kotoko are second on the league table currently but are level on points with league leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
