Ghana’s Ghana women’s national under-20 football team have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after battling to a 1-1 draw against Uganda women’s national under-20 football team at the FUFA Stadium in Kampala on Saturday afternoon.
The result, coupled with Ghana’s 2-1 first-leg victory in Accra last week, ensured the Black Princesses progressed comfortably on aggregate to book their place at the global tournament in Poland.
Uganda made a bright start to the decisive encounter and grabbed the opening goal in the sixth minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime as they pushed to overturn the deficit.
However, the Black Princesses responded strongly after the break and eventually found the crucial equaliser in the 78th minute through Linda Owusu Ansah.
Her goal restored parity on the day and effectively sealed Ghana’s qualification for the tournament.
The achievement extends Ghana’s impressive history in youth women’s football, with the Black Princesses now set to make their eighth consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The 2026 edition of the competition will be hosted in Poland later this year as Ghana aim to continue their strong tradition on the world stage.
