Ghanaian defender Kingsley Schindler has been rewarded with a new contract by German Bundesliga club FC Köln, highlighting the team’s unwavering faith in his abilities.
The decision to extend Schindler’s contract is a testament to FC Köln’s recognition of his exceptional skills and valuable contributions to the team’s success.
Schindler’s existing contract with FC Köln is set to expire at the end of June, but the club has presented him with a contract offer, according to sports director Christian Keller, as reported by Bild.
However, it is reported by Bild that the Hamburg-born defender would have to accept a significant reduction in salary. As a result, Schindler is currently deliberating on whether to accept the offer.
Given that Schindler has primarily been used as a substitute in recent times, a salary reduction seems reasonable. FC Köln coach Steffen Baumgart has expressed admiration for Schindler’s versatility, stating, “He didn’t become a national player for Ghana for nothing,” earlier in April.
Throughout the current season in the German Bundesliga, Kingsley Schindler has made 29 appearances and provided one assist, showcasing his impact on the field.
