The CAF Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday in Egypt unanimously agreed to allow Ghana to host the upcoming AWCON tournament quashing earlier reports that they were to be stripped off the hosting rights.
In the meeting, the executives sort to help the appointed four-member Normalisation Committee to ensure the success of the tournament instead of punishing the country.
“Ghana will host the 2018 AWCON. We discussed the importance of CAF giving them support instead of punishing them because the country has gone through some trying times in the past few months”

Dr Kofi Amoah, who was the CAF/FIFA liaison team head leads the four-member Normalisation Committee to run Ghana Football for the next six months .
He will be deputized by former Airtel Chief Executive Officer Lucy Quist.
Other members on the committee are Lawyer Duah Adonten, a former Kotoko Board member with Naa Odofoley Nortey completing the list.
Meanwhile, the local organizing committee will officially unveil the mascot for the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship today in Accra.
The event which will be graced by the Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah will take place at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The official website and theme song of the competition will also be outdoored by the local organizing committee.
The 2018 Africa Women’s Nations Cup was launched early this year.
