Former Ghana Black Stars coach C.K. Akonnor has expressed strong appreciation to his Ghanaian technical team after being named Coach of the Year in Kenya, following a successful campaign with Gor Mahia.
Akonnor, who guided the Kenyan giants to a league triumph, credited much of the achievement to the dedication and tactical input of his supporting staff, highlighting the importance of teamwork in delivering consistent results throughout the season.
Central to the success story were three Ghanaian assistants—Bismark Kobi-Mensah, Ben Owu, and Joshua Kofi Boafo—who played significant roles in training sessions, match preparation, player development, and in-game tactical adjustments that helped Gor Mahia secure the championship.
Throughout the season, the backroom team contributed to building a disciplined and competitive squad, ensuring tactical cohesion, defensive organisation, and attacking efficiency that proved decisive in key fixtures.
Akonnor praised their professionalism, describing them as a reliable unit whose technical awareness and commitment helped shape the team’s identity and sustained their title challenge from start to finish.
The recognition caps off a remarkable season for the Ghanaian coaching influence in East African football, with the trio’s contribution further strengthening the reputation of Ghanaian coaches abroad.
