Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has officially announced his departure from SC Freiburg after spending four years with the Bundesliga side.
The 30-year-old midfielder will leave the German club when his contract expires on June 30, 2026, following a mutual agreement between both parties.
Kyereh’s time at Freiburg was heavily disrupted by a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in 2023, an unfortunate setback that kept him away from first-team football for nearly three seasons.
Despite the difficult period, the former FC St. Pauli playmaker expressed appreciation to Freiburg for the support he received throughout his recovery process.
“I am happy about my time in Freiburg. The team has always supported me, and recently I was taken aback by how the lads in the U23s welcomed me,” Kyereh said during his farewell ceremony.
The attacking midfielder eventually made his return through Freiburg’s reserve side, where he impressed during his rehabilitation phase by scoring four goals in eight matches.
Kyereh is now expected to focus on securing regular playing time as he aims to revive his career and work his way back into the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, the talented midfielder remains determined to reclaim his place in the Black Stars setup.
