Ghana international midfielder Ebenezer Ofori has parted ways with Danish Superliga side Vejle Boldklub after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract, which was initially set to run until the summer of 2025.
The decision follows an extended period of limited game time for Ofori, who joined the club in 2022. Vejle Boldklub’s sporting director, Marius Adrian Nicolae, explained the rationale behind the move in a statement released on the club’s official website.
“With Ebenezer Ofori, we were in a situation where, on the one hand, we have a player who has been too far away from regular playing time for a long time, and, on the other hand, we are looking forward to the winter transfer window and the upcoming expiry of the player’s contract, which was not to be extended. It is therefore timely that we now say goodbye and thank Ebenezer Ofori for a professional and loyal effort for the club over the past almost three years,” Nicolae stated.
The club praised Ofori for his contributions, particularly during the 2022–23 season, when he played a pivotal role in securing the team’s promotion to the 3F Superliga.
“In addition to the fact that Ebenezer Ofori has always been a stable, welcoming, and unifying factor in the dressing room, he played a decisive role for the team and the club. We won’t forget him easily here in Vejle, and it is with good feelings and memories that we say goodbye,” Nicolae added.
Ofori made 69 appearances for Vejle Boldklub across all competitions during his time at the club. Despite his recent struggles for playing time, his influence in past campaigns remains highly regarded by the club and its supporters.
The 28-year-old midfielder also has international experience, boasting nine caps and one goal for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars. As he explores his next career move, Ofori will aim to reignite the form that once made him a standout figure in European football.
