Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a Board Member of Hearts of Oak, is optimistic that the quality displayed in the Ghana Premier League will soon overshadow the inclusion of foreign players in Black Stars call-ups.
His remarks follow his observation of the Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on Sunday during the matchday 14 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Reflecting on the performance of both teams, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe expressed admiration for the improved standard of quality in the local league. He believes that with the right selection of the best players and a competent coach, foreign players will face challenges securing spots in the national team squad in the years to come.
“The standard of play by both clubs was very good, and I must say I admired the way the players played yesterday,” he shared in an interview with Asempa FM.
Dr Nyaho Tamakloe emphasized the need to identify and nurture the best local talents, asserting that the era of heavily relying on foreign players for the Black Stars may soon be a thing of the past.
“If we can get such players in our Premier League division, then I think that very soon, there will be no need for a foreign player to be invited to the Black Stars.
“Why do I say so? Years gone by, we had such quality players but what we need now as the whole nation is to pick the best among what we have, get a good trainer and I can assure you that every soon, these foreign players we assemble at the Black Stars will be a thing of the past,” he added.
Hearts of Oak, despite losing 3-2 to Asante Kotoko in the recent game, will seek to return to winning ways as they face Nations FC in the matchday 15 fixture at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
