Nigeria cannot afford to drop a point in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic because they have just two points from the possible six.
The newly appointed head coach Finidi George in an interview per Complete Sports has urged all Nigerians to make the June assignments a national priority.
“The World Cup qualification matches against South Africa and the Benin Republic is a collective responsibility for all Nigerians, according to Complete Sports.
“I know I’m in charge now, and the heavy responsibility is on me to win the two World Cup matches,” said George Finidi.
The Super Eagles will welcome Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana on 5th June at home. Finidi George knows the task ahead as they trail their opponents South Africa one point and the surprise leaders Rwanda by two points.
“I will do my best and ensure success and qualify for the World Cup. I am also in touch with the players, and they are ready and willing to give their all, having missed out on the last edition in Qatar,” added George Finidi.
The newly appointed Nigeria head coach has promised to qualify Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by working hard. He revealed that he is always in contact with the Super Eagles players and also monitoring their performances.
Nigeria in June will play South Africa and Benin in MD3 and 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be played in the USA- Canada and Mexico.
