Aduana FC eased their relegation fears with a convincing 4-0 win over already-demoted Legon Cities on Sunday at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium, ensuring their place in next season’s Ghana Premier League.
Needing a result to stay clear of danger, the Ogya Boys rose to the occasion with a confident performance in front of their home fans. Although they began the match cautiously, their quality began to show as the game progressed.
The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Gideon Boateng calmly found the back of the net to give Aduana the lead before halftime. The hosts picked up the pace in the second half, with Elvis Addo doubling the advantage in the 59th minute.
Legon Cities struggled to respond, and Aduana took full control of the game. Kelvin Obeng added a third goal to stretch the lead, and Alex Boakye wrapped up the dominant display with a well-taken penalty late in the match.
The comprehensive victory pushed Aduana FC into 9th place on the table, giving them a crucial cushion heading into the final two games of the season. They will next travel to face title hopefuls FC Samartex before ending their campaign at home against Basake Holy Stars.
Legon Cities, whose relegation was confirmed weeks ago, will close out a disappointing season with matches against Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC.
For Aduana, the win was a timely boost and a statement of intent as they aim to finish the season on a strong note.
