Accra Hearts of Oak’s coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has given a candid assessment of the Ghana Premier League, describing it as one of the most challenging leagues in West Africa.
In an interview with Happy FM, Ouattara shared his thoughts on the league’s competitiveness.
“The Ghana Premier League is tough,” he said. “You can see that even the two biggest teams in Ghana are struggling to survive. I believe it’s one of the toughest leagues in West Africa. It’s a good league, and maybe someday, another country could replicate its intensity.”
The 2023/24 season was a difficult one for Accra Hearts of Oak, who had to fight hard to avoid relegation and ultimately finished 14th in the league.
Despite this setback, the team is not dwelling on past struggles and is instead focusing on strengthening their squad with new players ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The team’s immediate focus is on the upcoming Democracy Cup, where they will face off against their rivals, Asante Kotoko.
