The Salamanca CF striker Kwabena Owusu is strongly convinced the Black Meteors will break the 16-year jinx by securing qualification to the Olympic Games in 2020.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side will need to eliminate Algeria in the final qualifying match to qualify for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt before fighting for a spot in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The 21-year old attacker who is currently joint top scorer in the qualifiers with four goals is hopeful the Black Meteors will book a ticket to the Olympics for the first time since 2004.
“We will qualify for the Olympics, I am very confident, you can see how we are playing and we have a very good team,” he told Accra-based Atinka FM.
“It’s been a while we made it to the Olympic Games so we are determined to make it this time around.”
The Black Meteors ejected Gabon to reach the final round of qualifier after eliminating Togo in the first round.
Ghana will host Algeria in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers on June 5 before enplaning to Algeria for the second leg on June 9.
