A Ghanaian football fan, Sampson Manu has urged Ghanaians not to confuse criticisms with hatred.
Footballers especially those who are not performing as often criticized by fans all over the world especially when results don’t go well.
The culture hasn’t been any different in Ghana as Black Stars players particularly Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew and Baba Rahman are often criticized for their shortcomings.
The level of criticisms has often led to the hate tag but Sampson Manu says Kumasi fans do not hate the players as they always praise and hype those who perform.
Sampson Manu in his write said Asamoah Gyan and his brother Baffour have all been criticized by the Kumasi fans so the Ayew’s are not to only players who have been criticized before.

Ayews and Criticisms; Ghanaians always want results
I have been following Ghana football since Senegal 92. Typical of every young ardent football fan, I had no option than to admire the Great Abedi Pele….The Love was so infectious that, it was not surprising that we loved Kwame Ayew in the same measure as he burst unto the scene….
Kwame Ayew was so loved for his predatory instinct Infront of goal and his Rasta hair which had a lot of myth surrounding it Again, young footballers nicknamed themselves ‘Abedi ba’ but the real Abedi ba in the shape of Andrew Ayew was to come.
Fast-forward, even though Rahim had preceded Dede Ayew in the national team but it was Dede who shared some qualities with his dad.
He was left footed like his dad and Ghanaians suddenly fell in love with him. His younger brother Jordan followed suit and though they had the qualities but nowhere near the Great Abedi.
Typical of the Ayews, you can never fault them for their Patriotism and commitment to the national cause except at a point when they decided to quit the national team during Kwasi Appiah’s era.
Now, Ghanaians have always cherished and idolizd Abedi Pele to a fault…..I am shocked when some neophytes in the game say, Ghanaians have always hated the Ayews….
Herrrrrr this is wrong…….Infact, it takes a follower of the game to come to terms that Jordan though very committed rarely has a good game in the national team.
Dede on the other hand though has lost some form mostly comes out with the match winner for Ghana.
Just like Asamoah Gyan and those who have donned the national team, have been criticized whether justifiably or unfairly, Ghanaians have not spared the Ayews of any criticisms esp when they don’t get a good game…
But it’s shocking some Ghanaians have reduced the criticisms to be HATRED OF THE AYEWS…….When did that start?Growing up, I knew for a fact that Abedi Pele had a chunk of his support base in Kumasi…Yes…in Kumasi and among Kumasi fans…….So why are we reducing this to KUMASI FANS HATE THE AYEWS….
This is nons..se …….,… Did Ghanaians hate the Gyans when we criticised Asamoah Gyan and his brother Baffour Gyan in the 2008 Africa cup that it took President Kuffour’s intervention for them to rescind their decision not to play for the Black stars….Pls we should understand football is a sport so we should do away with all forms of emotions and sentiments.
