FC Kaiserslautern delivered a decisive 5-0 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig in the German Bundesliga 2, with German-born Ghanaian winger Aaron Opoku adding a late goal.
This triumph improved FC Kaiserslautern’s head-to-head record against Eintracht Braunschweig, which previously included 4 wins for Kaiserslautern, 6 wins for Braunschweig, and 9 draws.
Opoku came on as a substitute in the 71st minute, replacing Kenny Prince Redondo at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Anton Donkor, also of German-Ghanaian descent, played for Eintracht Braunschweig. Despite both teams having numerous shots, FC Kaiserslautern dominated possession.
Marlon Ritter was the star of the match, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 36th, 48th, and 69th minutes. His first was a close-range finish assisted by Almamy Touré, his second a spectacular strike from outside the box, and his third a precise shot set up by Kenny Redondo on a fast break.
Daniel Hanslik added to the scoreline with a left-footed shot from outside the box in the 53rd minute. Despite a controversial red card shown to Almamy Touré for violent conduct in the 57th minute, FC Kaiserslautern maintained control.
Opoku capped the win with a right-footed free-kick to the bottom right corner in the 76th minute. This season, Opoku has featured in 23 games, scoring three goals and providing one assist for FC Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2.
