The Media Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ayo Olu Ibidapo believes Ghana’s Black Stars team is no longer good enough saying its golden generation has faded out completely.
Ghana will host the Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Stadium on 25th March, 2022 for a place in the 2022 World Cup playoffs before travelling to Abuja for the reverse leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on March 29.
Ayo Olu Ibidapo is of the view that the Black Stars currently can only boast of few top stars unlike the team that had the likes of Asamoah Gyan and co.
“We have already started serious preparations for the game against Ghana. We will arrive in Ghana with a Chartered flight,” Ibidapo told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.
“Nigerians need this World Cup more than Ghana. That golden team of Ghana is appreciated and respected though. There is no Asamoah Gyan in the Ghana squad.”
Asamoah Gyan was part of Black Stars that played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cup in Germany, South Africa and in Brazil and remains the continent’s top scorer in the Mundial.
Ghana after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will be hoping to beat competition from Nigeria to pick one of the five African available slots to play in Qatar later this year.
