Ghanaian forward Joselpho Barnes has completed a move to Belgian Pro League club Sint-Truiden from Latvian side FC Riga on a two-year contract.
The 21-year-old, who previously played for Schalke 04’s youth team, brings promising talent to Sint-Truiden. Barnes was also a part of the Ghana U20 squad that clinched victory in the U20 African Cup of Nations in 2021.
During his time with Schalke, Barnes featured prominently for the U19 team, making 39 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing two assists. Following the expiration of his contract in Germany last year, he made the move to Riga.
In his spell with FC Riga in Latvia, Barnes has demonstrated his ability, netting seven goals in 31 matches and contributing four assists.
Barnes, who grew up in Germany as the son of former Ghanaian international Sebastian Barnes, progressed through the youth academies of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Fortuna Köln, and Schalke 04.
Although he didn’t experience a breakthrough at those clubs, his move to Sint-Truiden presents an opportunity for him to further develop his career.
