Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he doesn’t have any say regarding Raheem Sterling’s future at the club.
Sterling’s future has been a matter of discussion since last summer when he claimed that he would consider his options if he didn’t get enough playing time at the Etihad.
Despite the uncertainties, the player has continued to shine with the Englishman hitting a hattrick in their 4-0 win over Norwich City over the weekend as the Cityzens continued their push to retain their Premier League title.
Asked about the future of Sterling after the game, Guardiola who praised the player said: “Nobody doubts how important it (signing a deal) is. He has shown it. What I want is for tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, he and all the players play well.
“If we count the number of games he has played since we are together, it’s a lot. He was a key player. In the future, I don’t know what’s going to happen, because the club decides. The club all the time.
When they extend the player contracts, I give my opinion but the club takes the decisions all the time.”
Since joining City from Liverpool in 015, Sterling has made 322 appearances scoring 126 goals and racking up 100 assists.
