Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has heaped praise on English-born Ghanaian talent Kobbie Mainoo following his outstanding performance in their 2-0 victory over Arsenal during preseason.

The 18-year-old Mainoo earned a spot in the starting lineup for the crucial encounter against Arsenal, playing in the number six role. Despite his young age, the midfielder displayed immense potential and skill throughout the game.

Mainoo’s standout moment came when he delivered a superb assist, showcasing remarkable vision and technique, setting up Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes for the opening goal during a swift counter-attack. Shortly after, Jadon Sancho added a second goal to seal the victory.

After the match, Bruno Fernandes spoke highly of the young talent in an interview with MUTV. He commended Mainoo for his resilience, noting that he is always ready to work and possesses high capabilities. Bruno highlighted the teenager’s versatility, emphasizing his ability to excel both in defense and attack.

The Manchester United captain expressed his optimism about Mainoo’s future, stating that the young player has a bright path ahead of him. Bruno Fernandes hoped that Mainoo would receive more opportunities and playing time to further develop his skills and grow into a valuable asset for the team.

“Honestly, Kobbie is a great player, he shows great resilience,” he told MUTV. “He’s always ready to work. He’s capabilities are high and everyone can see it [his talent]. He’s good on the ball, strong, he can defend and attack.

“You see how he attacked the space for my goal. He’s still pretty young, but we see a bright future for him and hopefully, he will get more minutes, more time, and he will be a great player for us.”
