Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury status of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, shedding light on the likelihood of the influential player returning to the pitch before the upcoming January break in the Premier League.
Since October, the 30-year-old midfielder has been sidelined, missing Arsenal’s fixtures since the October international friendly games, where he featured for Ghana against Mexico and the USA.
Partey sustained a muscle injury during a training session, subsequently ruling him out of action for both his club and the Ghana national team.
Unfortunately, Partey was not included in Ghana’s squad for the initial qualifier of the 2026 World Cup against Comoros. Arteta shared insights on Partey’s recovery, stating, “I said that hopefully it’s going to be weeks and not months, and he’s working towards that. He needs support. Hopefully, the injury will heal in the right way, and we’ll have him back because he is a big player for us.”
The last appearance of Thomas Partey for Arsenal was in a match against Manchester City. In the current season, Partey has participated in five games across various competitions but has yet to find the back of the net.
The manager’s update indicates a cautious optimism about Partey’s return to action in the weeks leading up to the January break.
