Former Leicester City FC defender Conor Coady believes Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has the quality to succeed in the English Premier League despite the Foxes’ disappointing relegation campaign.
The Black Stars forward was unable to prevent Leicester from suffering another demotion, as the former Premier League champions dropped to League One following a difficult season.
Despite the club’s struggles, Issahaku remained one of Leicester’s standout performers, registering 16 goal contributions in the English Championship and consistently providing attacking spark whenever available.
The Ghanaian winger had played a key role in Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago under former Chelsea FC manager Enzo Maresca. However, his latest campaign was heavily disrupted after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for a significant part of the season.
With several topflight clubs reportedly monitoring the winger, Coady is convinced Issahaku possesses the attributes needed to thrive at the highest level.
“Fatawu at Leicester,” Coady said on The Overlap when asked about Championship players capable of succeeding in the Premier League.
“I know Leicester have gone down and I know he’s had a bad second half of the season but I played with Abdul and he’s a very good player on his day. I know he was linked with certain clubs previously, so I would put him in that bracket,” he added.
Issahaku is currently focused on preparations with Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, while uncertainty remains over his long-term future at Leicester City.
