New Asante Kotoko interim head coach Karim Zito has shared the emotional weight behind his decision to leave Dreams FC, describing his return to the Porcupine Warriors as a move driven by deep loyalty and a sense of belonging.
Zito, who also assumes the role of Technical Director at Kotoko, acknowledged that leaving Dreams FC—a club where he achieved remarkable success—was a difficult personal sacrifice. Under his guidance, Dreams FC won the MTN FA Cup and made history by reaching the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“I’m leaving what belongs to me to join where I belong. I belong to Kotoko,” Zito declared, highlighting his longstanding connection to the Kumasi-based giants.
His comeback follows the exit of Prosper Narteh Ogum, whose tenure ended due to a string of disappointing results. With Kotoko still in contention for a domestic double—they are currently fourth in the Ghana Premier League and in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup—Zito’s mission is clear.
He has been tasked with rejuvenating the squad’s form and leading a strong finish to the season. With six matches remaining and a six-point gap separating Kotoko from league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, Zito is expected to inspire a late surge for the title while also pushing for FA Cup glory.
