Black Stars goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott expresses his elation at being back in action as Ghana prepares to face Madagascar and Comoros in the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The shot-stopper has missed several national team games in the last few months due to an injury he suffered. Last month, Joseph Wollacott finally made a full recovery from his injury and has even featured for his club Hibernian FC.
Recognising the availability of the goalkeeper, Ghana coach Chris Hughton has included Joseph Wollacott in his Black Stars squad for the first round of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“It is very good; it has been a while, obviously, I was struggling with injury, but I feel good and I am happy to be back,” he said.
“If you remember the last time it was a difficult journey, so we know what to expect. We have to be prepared and take these games very seriously.
“I am sure we will get the victory. I am confident as always; obviously, the last one didn’t go according to plan, but we will rectify this one.”
The squad has three goalkeepers, including Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Richard Ofori.
The game between Ghana and Madagascar is scheduled to be played on November 17.
Meanwhile, the game between Comoros and Ghana will be played on November 21.
