Former Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak Coach David Duncan has said he’s happy as being the one who introduced bragging to Ghanaian soccer.
Duncan,one of the experience coaches Ghana have ever had aside handling the two giant clubs in the country has also coached Hassacas,Ashgold SC, Great Olympics and the national U-17, having been into the field of soccer coaching for the past 16 years.
In an interview with Accra based Vision 1 FM the vociferous gaffer said “Coaching was something l never dreamt of but it just came out of me.”
” I’m very sure l brought bragging to Ghanaian football, because football back in the days was more of the silence type,before l came in with my boastful and over confidence talks ahead of league matches which won me the affectionate name Jose Moreno of Ghanaian soccer,” coach Duncan noted.
The astute coach in his days with Tarkoradi based outfit Hassaacas, went a whole season unbeaten before switching suits to Accra Great Olympics, which he described as a team he cuts teeth with and coaching them was phenomenal.
Duncan currently is with lower tier outfit Phar Rangers as the head coach, where he discussed is not on payroll but chose to help the team out of generosity to gain qualification to the premier league.
In conclusion to his talks, Duncan highlighted that after turning a coach has always had a followed principle, which is working with results oriented players rather than humble players,which has over the years work perfectly for him,and as a coach has never involved himself in the so called hand-shake,gift or bribe with the ideology of helping or signing a player.
Chidingly his steps is been ordered my the lord, making it an unpredictable task for him to promise Ghanaian soccer loving fans as to when he will be returning to professional coaching.
