Charlton Athletic midfielder Freda Ayisi, experiencing her maiden call-up to the national team, is quickly acclimating to her role within the Black Queens squad ahead of their pivotal doubleheader against Zambia’s Copper Queens.
Earnestly named in the starting lineup for the first leg clash in Accra, Ayisi, despite the narrow defeat, expresses confidence in her adaptation process, citing her positive performance signals during training sessions.
“I’m adapting, and I feel like I am doing well, especially in training. That is the best way to adapt, just train and work hard with the girls, and hopefully, I will be on the same level, enabling us to play football together consistently,” shared Ayisi.
As the team endeavors to overturn the 1-0 deficit in Ndola, Ayisi remains optimistic, acknowledging the significance of securing qualification to the Olympics in elevating the team’s stature on the global stage.
“It will be amazing for the team to go for the Olympics because it’s a significant opportunity to showcase Ghana’s football prowess and re-establish our presence on the international scene,” she affirmed.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Ayisi dismisses complacency as a factor in their previous loss, emphasizing the team’s collective focus and resilience amidst the unpredictable nature of football.
With confidence and determination, the Black Queens gear up for the crucial second leg scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, February 28, at the Levy Mwanawasa Sports Stadium at 16:00 GMT.
