Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged the challenges his team faced in dealing with Kamaldeen Sulemana during their 3-1 victory over Southampton at Old Trafford.
Sulemana, who seems to have rediscovered his spark, was a standout performer for the Saints, even as a late hat-trick from Amad Diallo secured all three points for United.
The Ghanaian winger delivered an energetic performance, completing his first full Premier League match of the season in the process.
Speaking after the match, Amorim praised Southampton’s tactics and highlighted Sulemana’s impact. “A very difficult game. They did a very good job, Southampton, creating spaces between the lines. Their number 20 [Sulemana] had a lot of space behind; we had a hard time stopping that player,” he admitted.
Southampton, struggling to adjust after their return to the Premier League, took an unexpected lead just before halftime when United’s Manuel Ugarte turned the ball into his own net.
However, their hopes of an upset were dashed in the closing stages as Diallo’s clinical hat-trick turned the game in United’s favor.
