Former Ghana assistant coach, Herve Renard, applauds Andre Ayew’s strategic decision to join Le Havre in the French Ligue 1, describing it as an “intelligent choice.”
Ayew, the former captain of the Black Stars, inked a deal with Le Havre in November on a free transfer after his stint with Nottingham Forest in the 2022/23 Premier League season.
Renard, celebrated for leading Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations triumphs, hails Ayew’s move to Le Havre, emphasizing the club’s reputation for nurturing talented players.
In an interview for French Ligue 1’s documentary, “Follow your lucky star: Africa and Ligue 1 Uber Eats, the common goal,” Renard notes that Ayew has rejuvenated his career with this move.
“He has just relaunched himself by coming to the French Ligue 1 for Le Havre. I think it’s a good choice. It’s an intelligent choice,” Renard said.
Ayew, who made his AFCON debut in 2008 under Renard’s guidance, gears up for his eighth AFCON with Ghana.
Placed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, Ayew’s wealth of experience and leadership skills position him as a key player in Ghana’s pursuit of glory in the tournament.
