Former Aduana Stars striker, Yahaya Mohammed has voiced his concerns about the perceived arrogance of Medeama SC’s forward, Jonathan Sowah.
Despite acknowledging Sowah’s talent, Mohammed expressed worries that recent behaviors, such as missing training sessions, receiving unnecessary cards, and showing indiscipline on the field, might adversely impact his performance.
The former Kotoko forward pointed out that Sowah’s attitude has changed since his call-up to the Black Stars, affecting his overall performance.
He emphasized the importance of managing Sowah well to prevent the negative consequences of arrogance from hampering his career.
“How is his performance after his Black Stars call-up? He is arrogant now, not going to training, receiving unnecessary cards, and indiscipline in the field of play. It can affect you because you are not there yet so that is the problem.
“He is one of the finest strikers Ghana can rely on but he may end up spending all his time in Ghana if they don’t manage him well to stop being arrogant. We don’t want it to be like that,” Yahaya Mohammed told Mothers 102.7FM.
The criticism comes at a time when Sowah is part of the provisional squad selected by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite being recognized as one of Ghana’s promising strikers, Sowah has faced recent challenges, including a loss of form and criticism from Medeama SC fans.
In a notable incident, Sowah missed a penalty kick and received a red card during Medeama SC’s 3-0 defeat to Young Africans in the CAF Champions League.
