Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney has hailed Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil for an exceptional debut season in Major League Soccer (MLS), which played a pivotal role in the team’s record-breaking success.
Paintsil, who joined LA Galaxy from Belgian side KRC Genk earlier in 2024, delivered an impressive tally of 14 goals and eight assists in 34 games. His contributions were instrumental in the club securing its sixth MLS Cup title, solidifying their position as the league’s most successful team.
Reflecting on Paintsil’s immediate impact, Vanney praised the 25-year-old’s quick adaptation and synergy with the team. “It was about our style of play, the profiles we wanted, and finding guys that fit seamlessly with our setup. Joseph Paintsil exemplified that,” Vanney remarked. “His ability to adapt quickly and have an incredible season was phenomenal.”
Paintsil capped off his stellar season with a crucial performance in the MLS Cup Final, scoring the opening goal in LA Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls.
The Ghanaian winger’s debut season in MLS has not only cemented his place as a key figure for LA Galaxy but also raised expectations for his future performances in the league.
