Uganda’s U-17 national team has confirmed its technical and support staff ahead of the upcoming CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, marking a key step in their build-up to the continental tournament.
The Young Cranes have been placed in a challenging Group B alongside Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, setting the stage for a demanding group-stage campaign against some of Africa’s strongest youth sides.
At the centre of the technical setup is head coach Laryea Kingston, a former Ghana international, who will lead the team’s tactical planning and matchday strategy throughout the tournament.
He will be supported by assistant coaches Ibrahim Juma Sadam and Bengo Steven, who will assist with training sessions, tactical preparation, and match analysis.
The team management structure also includes Katende Jerome as team manager, responsible for logistics and administration, while Senfuka Patrick takes charge as kit manager.
In the performance and medical departments, Ayebo Felix has been appointed performance coach, with Gumisiriza Michael Karmu serving as physiotherapist to oversee player fitness, recovery, and injury management. Team doctor Nakabago Emmanuel will provide medical supervision, ensuring the health and welfare of players throughout the competition.
The goalkeeping department will be handled by Mugabi Yasin, who will prepare the team’s shot-stoppers for the demands of elite continental competition. Tumusime Vincent completes the structure as safeguarding official, tasked with player welfare and adherence to youth protection standards.
With the technical team now in place, Uganda will turn its focus to final preparations as they aim to navigate a tough group and secure progression to the knockout stages in Morocco.
