Laryea Kingston says African players often respect and follow the instructions of foreign coaches because of the strong knowledge and quality those coaches bring to the game.
The former Ghana international believes this is a clear message for local coaches to focus more on their education and development.
He explained that many African players who play in Europe work with some of the best coaches in the world. These coaches are highly trained and fully understand modern football, making it easier for players to trust and listen to them.
“A player like Osimhen will naturally respect a coach who demonstrates quality through their work. So that respect often comes from coaching education,” Kingston said in an interview with Joy Sports.
He believes that the more African coaches learn and improve their skills, the more respect they will gain from their players. This, in turn, will help grow football across the continent.
Laryea Kingston encourages homegrown coaches not to be left behind but to invest in their knowledge so they can match the standards set by their foreign counterparts.
