Asante Kotoko newly appointed coach Maxwell Konadu has explained the reason behind his decision to rejoin the club.
The former Black Stars deputy coach tells FOX FM in an interview that he finally took the bold decision to return to the Porcupine Warriors because officials at the club really demonstrated that they needed him dearly hence his move to Kumasi.
According to the Black Stars ‘B’ head coach, he was on several occasions contacted by some highly respected and top officials of the club including the Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei to succeed Norwegian trainer Kjetil Zachariassen who was fired for poor performance.
“The difference is that that this time the team’s efforts to get me was greater than all other years, that also played a major role. Dignitaries from all facets who have the club at heart kept calling me every now and then, including our own Dr. Kwame Kyei (Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko). I think it’s the right time for me to make that decision, because the efforts from the officials to get me was greater, and in football too even for players they go where they are most wanted,” he said.
The 48-year old tactician, was unveiled by the club on Wednesday at the their training ground at Adako Jachie.
He has been tasked to win the upcoming Ghana Premier League and as well qualify to the team to the Caf Champions League.
Konadu, during his first spell with Asante Kotoko won the 2011/2012 Ghana Premier League title.
Most of the times it’s not about where you get the most money but if you go where you are wanted the most that is where you are mostly successful, so I think the timing is right and I don’t think there will be most problem,” Konadu concluded.
